SLPQI Pilot Wraps Up Year 2
This summer, through the generous support of The Wallace Foundation, 14 Sprockets partner organizations participated in the second summer of a two year pilot on Summer Learning Program Quality Interventions (SLPQI). Sprockets was selected as one of two cities along with Denver Afterschool Alliance to focus on a network approach to supporting quality improvements for summer. A partnership between the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) and the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality has resulted in an adapted version of our familiar YPQA that incorporates aspects unique to summer, along with an improvement cycle that meets the needs of busy summer programs.
In addition to a Spring training facilitated by the NSLA, sites received an external assessment and coaching session to help them think about simple strategies to improve programming during the summer session. In September the sites will join together for a Planning with Data workshop facilitated by the Weikart Center to dig deep into the data to create improvement plans.
Thanks to our partners for their commitment to quality summer programming!
