Weikart Susan Crown Exchange

The Social Emotional Learning Demonstration Project is an opportunity to integrate trainings, assessments, and supports for staff to improve SEL practices into your current continuous improvement cycle.  This opportunity is available through a partnership between the Susan Crown Exchange and the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality (Weikart).

Sprockets is seeking 10 sites to participate in the SEL Demonstration Project for the 2017-18 school year.

Eligible Applicants:

We are seeking youth programs that:

  • Have experience participating in YPQA observations and improvement cycle
  • Serve middle school and/or high school aged youth
  • Provide programming during the 2017-18 school year that start no later than Oct.16th and continues through April 2018.

Sprockets Commitments – Sprockets will provide:

  • SEL trainings listed on reverse
  • Two external assessment by a Weikart Center trained reliable assessor for observation
  • Technical assistance and support for SEL demonstration project
  • SEL PQA/ Staff Rating of Youth Behavior (SRYB) reports provided winter & summer

Site commitments - See full details of site commitments here.

  • Identify a site lead and two instruction staff to participate in the project
  • Attend up to 5 days of training including Kick off, SEL Review and M3
  • Coordinate with EA for site 2 observations
  • Secure Parent Consent forms for at least 20 participating youth
  • Provide one team SEL PQA self-assessment in fall
  • Provide Staff Rating of Youth Behaviors three times during program year
  • Submit an improvement plan
  • Provide feedback on process through survey and focus group
