West 7th Summer Day Camp

  • Fun and learning when school is out
West 7th’s Summer Day Camp complements learning during the school year, prevents summer learning losses, and provides youth with fun, constructive and creative activities. Summer Day Camp facilitates growth in all developmental areas; cognitive, social-emotional, and physical. We serve families living, working, or attending school in the West 7th neighborhood. Breakfast and Lunch are provided daily.

Academics: West 7th Summer Day Camp engages students in fun academic activities; the library summer reading program, math, history and science activities such as our annual chemistry day. In fact, for K-6 students, our summer day camp is also a summer school site for Saint Paul Public Schools. A licensed teacher conducts STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) courses.  VISTA Summer Reads volunteers conduct daily literacy activities with our K-3rd grade students.

Social Emotional Learning: Summer Day Camp facilitates self-confidence, self-esteem, leadership, and healthy relationships. We utilize the research-based, Second Step violence prevention curriculum that teaches vital social skills such as empathy, impulse control, problem-solving, and emotion management.

Enrichment: Summer Day Camp provides a wide variety of enrichment activities such as: art, theater, dance, music, cooking, science, Spanish, gardening, tennis, soccer, basketball, floor hockey, swimming, multi-cultural activities, intergenerational activities, and service learning. Students participate in weekly field trips such as museums, zoos, sporting events, and nature centers.
