Youth Leadership Initiative

  • The mission of YLI is to build the next generation of multicultural leaders. No experience is needed. The only criteria is being in high school. Sign up for this fun, engaging after-school program if you: - are looking to build up your leadership skills - would like to add extracurricular and leadership activities to your resume - enjoy being in a welcoming and positive learning space - like to talk about issues of identity, race, culture and social justice - want to learn how to build relationships across differences - learn through doing - value learning, curiosity, and trying new things We encourage parents, teachers, mentors, and other community members to share this opportunity with a young person you know.

    Program Activities

    • Weekly programming sessions on researching, designing, and implementing  community action project on an issue you are passionate about.
    • Overnight cabin retreats on topics like leadership, social justice, culture, community, and legacy
    • Monthly cultural sessions exploring an identity important to you

     

    Youth participants:
    ● 14 -18 years of age.
    ● Be enrolled in high school.
    ● Be reflective of the diversity of the community.

    Program Dates & Location
    Wednesday Action Teams 4:30-6:30pm and Cultural Exploration Sessions once a month on Saturdays 10am-2pm at the Rondo Library, 461 Dale St. N., St. Paul, MN 55103.
