Youth Leadership Initiative

  • Youth Leadership Initiative (YLI) is a multicultural leadership program based out of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation designed to help youth, in grades 9-12, develop strong, effective leadership skills to work in diverse community settings. This program works to develop youths’ understanding of themselves and their cultures, equip youth with the knowledge, skills and qualities needed for leadership, encourage youths’ appreciation for the culture of others and promote cross cultural leadership and build youth leadership through meaningful engagement in real community issues. YLI is unique in the way youth are given leadership across our program to help make decisions, run sessions and choose which issues to address in the community. Teens that participate in the Youth Leadership Initiative will gain skills and confidence that will help them in all areas of their life.
